Criterion Research, LLC in Houston seeks an entry-level market analyst to own daily market coverage and help develop new data products. You will shape client-facing insights with editorial judgment and data-driven analysis.
You will work closely with a small team, combining writing with SQL/Python data work, and use AI tools daily to deliver concise, timely research for energy clients.
Criterion Research builds natural gas market intelligence for traders, utilities, midstream operators, and financial institutions. Our platform combines real-time interstate pipeline nomination data, maintenance and constraint tracking, supply and demand modeling, and written research into a single product suite used by clients across the energy and financial sectors. We launched our web platform in 2026 and count investment banks, power generators, and midstream developers among our enterprise clients.
We are a small team. There is no layer between an analyst here and the work that reaches clients.
This is an entry-level position with two halves.
Data and market analysis are the foundation of everything Criterion produces. You will own the flow of daily market intelligence, deciding what matters to our clients and turning it into published analysis. Increasingly this means working alongside an internal drafting system rather than writing every piece from a blank page: your value is editorial judgment, market context, and the analysis a drafting system cannot produce on its own. You will decide what runs, what gets killed, and what deserves a deeper look.
Criterion is expanding its data and report offerings across natural gas, LNG, and power. You will help scope, build, and launch new datasets and publications. This is hands-on work: pulling data, testing ideas against it, and shipping something clients pay for. Analysts here bring ideas forward and see them built.
