Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Energy Manager to support cost-effective energy solutions for our data center fleet in the United States. You will help develop interconnection and energy supply agreements, oversee milestones, and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners.

The role requires leadership in energy strategy, negotiations, and project management for large-scale energy programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant energy or utility project development experience.
• Knowledge of transmission, distribution and interconnection processes.
• Experience managing large-scale energy projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate status clearly.
• Proficiency with Excel and presentation tools (PowerPoint/Keynote).

Responsibilities

• Support development of overarching and site-specific energy infrastructure strategies for Meta data centers.
• Identify energy requirements and communicate them to stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations for energy infrastructure agreements and present recommendations to leadership.
• Manage due diligence, site development, contracts, and operational processes for energy matters.
• Coordinate with utility partners, internal teams, and consultants with minimal supervision.
• Analyze capacity planning scenarios to optimize options and align with business plans.
• Negotiate and deliver new commercial agreements enabling capacity and flexible delivery.
• Build relationships with site selection, engineering, design, construction, facilities, legal, and finance teams.
• Drive process improvements to speed delivery and reduce costs.
• Lead ad-hoc energy initiatives and escalate risks to keep projects on track.
• Travel domestically up to 25% as required.

Summary

Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates to deliver our innovative services. Meta is seeking an experienced, organized and individual to support the development of cost-effective energy solutions for our growing fleet of data centers. In this role, you will be a key contributor to Meta’s data center energy strategy, specifically supporting the energy infrastructure arrangements of our data centers through various stages of development including site selection, construction and operations. Your responsibilities will include: supporting the development of interconnection and energy supply agreements, monitoring progress towards key development milestones, developing processes and building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external partners. You will work with our Energy Managers and be expected to think critically about Meta’s data center energy infrastructure.

Required Skills

Energy Manager, Power Delivery Responsibilities:

1. Support the creation and execution of overarching and site-specific energy infrastructure strategies for Meta’s data centers

2. Establish and communicate energy requirements to internal and external stakeholders

3. Lead negotiations for energy infrastructure agreements that align with Meta's project and company requirements and policies, and present recommendations to leadership for approval

4. Manage project due diligence, site development, construction, commercial agreements and operational processes for energy related matters

5. Lead communication and deliverables between utility partners, internal stakeholders, and consultants with a high degree of autonomy

6. Negotiate deal terms, focusing on capacity planning and optionality by analyzing and presenting various scenarios to maximize the longevity of available options while strategically balancing capacity requirements and business plans

7. Negotiate and deliver new commercial agreements that enable capacity and create fungible options to allow delivering capacity in alternative approaches

8. Build and maintain relationships with internal partners including site selection, strategic engineering, data center design, construction, facility operations, legal and finance

9. Identify and drive process improvements to optimize project delivery, resulting in significant time and cost savings

10. Lead and manage various ad-hoc energy initiatives for Meta and its energy program, driving successful outcomes and delivering value to the organization

11. Identify and resolve undefined or evolving requirements in the data center development process, escalating risks as needed to keep projects on track

12. Ability to travel domestically, as needed (up to 25%)

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience

2. 12+ years of relevant work experience with a utility, energy project developer, design/consulting firm, construction firm or energy-intensive consumer

3. Working knowledge of transmission, distribution and utility interconnection processes and electrical infrastructure

4. Experience with project development and management for complex, large-scale projects

5. Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

6. Experience communicating project status, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and building ongoing partnerships with suppliers and partners

7. Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint and/or Keynote skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

2. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)

3. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

$202,000/year to $273,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
