Qualifications

  • Proven track record of commercial success in negotiating and developing energy solutions.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial, technical, and development due diligence.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead opportunities to secure cost-competitive clean and renewable energy for Meta’s operations.
  • Support data center site selection and development activities.
  • Collaborate with sustainability, legal, tax, engineering, and finance to implement supply solutions.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial frameworks for grid decarbonization projects and other energy technologies.
  • Develop and grow relationships with suppliers, developers, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Influence the design of new clean energy supply solutions offered by utilities and other suppliers.
  • Support evolution of Meta’s clean energy supply strategy for domestic and international data centers.
  • Track market trends and communicate risks and impacts to management.
  • Lead and support energy projects including technology assessment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed (10–20%).

Job description

Meta's Global Energy Team is seeking a highly experienced energy professional to identify, develop, negotiate, and manage clean and renewable energy supply solutions for our growing fleet of data centers.The Energy Manager, Clean Energy will support the continued development and execution of Meta's global energy strategy centered on a supply portfolio of cost-competitive clean and renewable energy sources consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives. In this role, you will be developing optimal clean energy supply solutions by creatively leveraging your skills and significant experience across a spectrum of energy supply issues, including project development, finance, commercial, regulatory, market, technical, legal, and tax.
Energy Manager, Clean Energy Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, creation, development, negotiation, and execution of opportunities to secure new cost-competitive sources of clean and renewable energy for Meta’s operations
  • Support domestic and international, as needed, data center site selection and development activities
  • Collaborate with internal organizations including sustainability, legal, tax, engineering, and finance to implement supply solutions
  • Develop and negotiate commercial frameworks for Meta’s participation in grid decarbonization projects involving nuclear, geothermal, utility-scale storage, and other advanced energy technologies, as required
  • Develop and grow relationships with key suppliers, developers, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Take an active role in regulatory processes and influence the design of new clean and renewable energy supply solutions offered by utilities and other suppliers
  • Support continued evolution, innovation, and execution of Meta’s clean energy supply strategy for domestic and potentially international data centers
  • Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the clean energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
  • Lead and support various energy projects as needed, including technology assessment
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed (10% to 20% at times)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a business, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or technically related field
  • 12+ years of experience in developing, acquiring, performing due diligence, and negotiating definitive agreements for utility-scale clean and renewable energy solutions
  • Proven track record of commercial success in the negotiation and development of energy solutions
  • Experience representing business interests to executive leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, and other stakeholders
  • Experience working with financial models for renewable energy projects and energy technologies, identifying key risks and sensitivities, and leading all related due diligence efforts (financial, commercial, technical, and development)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with all internal and external stakeholders and consultants
  • Experience in utility and grid interconnection processes
  • Experience in leading negotiations and projects
  • Experience in communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
