Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co-op opportunities for high‑performing college students in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering.

Interns work side-by-side with experienced professionals on real projects, including field operations at pipeline and processing facilities, with on-site 40-hour weeks and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) for the duration of the experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Time spent in the field monitoring and managing activities at midstream facilities.
• Authorized to work in the United States with sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms preferred.
• MIN - $33.54 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

• Project scope development, including estimating, scheduling, design, contractor engagement and construction oversight.
• DOT-regulated pipeline integrity and maintenance programs.
• Field work at pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing plants and related facilities.
• Assist professionals by supporting midstream initiatives across NGL services: automation/controls engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, process optimization engineering, project engineering, operations engineering, reliability engineering, pipeline integrity, corrosion, measurement services.
