Job summary

JP Morgan is seeking an Associate Geologist to join its Technical Transaction Team in Houston. You will evaluate oil/gas assets across Upstream, Midstream and Downstream, collaborating with engineers and bankers.

Responsibilities include log interpretation, basin mapping, and seismic interpretation to support transactions and client pitches. A Master’s in Geology and 3+ years in the sector are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geology.
• Minimum of 3 years in industry at an operator or A&D banking.
• SIE, Series 79 and Series 63 licenses to be obtained if not licensed shortly after onboarding.
• Experience with Petra, ArcGIS, Geo Graphix, Microsoft Office, Landmark.
• Highly proficient in geophysical mapping, database creation and characterization of plays.

Responsibilities

• Quantify potential drilling locations for assets across regions.
• Develop deep technical understanding and collaborate with engineers.
• Identify trends and risks in oil and gas development globally.
• Characterize subsurface complexities affecting outcomes and productivity.
• Lead data room, marketing and pitch efforts with senior bankers.
