Job summary

The JPI Group in Pittsburgh is seeking an Energy Engineer I to support the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs. You will perform engineering calculations, analyze energy-saving opportunities, support building energy simulations, and assist with measurement and verification activities.

You will work with experienced engineers to evaluate projects, develop technical recommendations, and help ensure successful client delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1–3 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 0+ years.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Interest in energy efficiency, building systems, sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate energy savings using standard engineering principles, including thermodynamics, physics, mechanics, fan laws, algebra, and statistics
  • Participate in energy audits and identify opportunities to improve building and equipment energy efficiency
  • Analyze energy efficiency projects using engineering tools, software, and building energy models
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation
  • Understand building energy systems, end uses, and the energy impacts of industrial processes
  • Support the development of energy efficiency measures and technical strategies for program planning
  • Assist with measurement and verification of energy savings
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of technical work
  • Communicate project updates, findings, and recommended adjustments to project teams
  • Prioritize safety in all activities
  • Develop knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, industry trends, regulations, and sustainability best practices

Job description

We are looking for an Energy Engineer I to join our team supporting the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs.

In this role, you will perform engineering calculations, analyze energy‑saving opportunities, support building energy simulations, and assist with measurement and verification activities. You will work alongside experienced engineers and program teams to evaluate energy efficiency projects, develop technical recommendations, and help ensure successful delivery of client programs.

You will also contribute to technical documentation and reporting, quality assurance and quality control activities, and the continuous improvement of program strategies and processes.

  • Participate in energy audits and identify opportunities to improve building and equipment energy efficiency
