Job summary

ECLARO is seeking an Energy Engineer in Berlin, CT to provide technical analysis and support for electric and natural gas energy efficiency projects. The role focuses on developing and promoting energy efficiency programs, reviewing engineering parameters, and ensuring compliance with incentive rules.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of related experience, a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), and knowledge of HVAC, lights, and energy codes.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) preferred.
  • Experience with energy efficiency programs and energy codes.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, pumps, motors, VFDs.
  • Familiarity with local energy codes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Salesforce experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in development of programs and implementation plans for electric and natural gas energy efficiency programs.
  • Reviews technical parameters and ensures conformance to engineering standards, energy codes and program rules.
  • Performs energy analysis to determine electric and natural gas energy savings.
  • Provides guidance to ensure projects yield verifiable energy savings.
  • Supports inspections of equipment and operations for savings calculations and incentive rules.
  • Collaborates with third parties and customers for program implementation.
  • Analyzes high-efficiency HVAC equipment, motors, controls, lighting to determine energy savings.

Position Overview
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
  • This position is responsible for providing technical analysis, advice, and support to customers for electric and natural gas energy efficiency projects.
  • This position supports the development, promotion, and implementation of energy efficiency programs to meet established goal.
Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of program and implementation plans for electric and natural gas energy efficiency programs.
  • Reviews technical parameters and confirms that the project conforms to engineering standards, energy codes and incentive program rules.
  • Performs energy analysis to determine electric and natural gas energy savings.
  • Provides guidance and planning to ensure that all projects yield measurable and verifiable energy savings.
  • Supports and / or conducts inspections of equipment and operations in alignment with energy savings calculations and incentive program rules.
  • Collaborates with third parties and customers for implementation of energy efficiency programs.
  • Conducts detailed analysis of high efficiency HVAC equipment, motors, controls, lighting systems, and other equipment to determine electric and natural gas energy savings compared to baseline equipment and or building codes.
  • Provides training and support services for energy efficiency team and program marketing activities.
  • Supports Client in national energy efficiency conferences and / or stake holder events (e.g. ACEEE, ASHRAE, ACI, CEE, and state / regional R&D groups).
  • Conducts the evaluation of new technologies and other research and development activities.
  • Field visits to customer sites.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-7 years related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical, preferred).
  • 3 years of relevant experience in engineering or related technical roles.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC equipment, air handlers, pumps, motors, and VFDs.
    • Ability to review building plans showing HVAC, lighting, and control systems.
    • Familiarity with local energy codes.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
    • Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
    • An Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or accredited Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional is preferred.
