Job summary

Willdan Energy Company in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Quality Verification Specialist to verify energy-efficient building design options for new construction and major renovation projects. The role involves leading verification efforts, reviewing docs, and ensuring program compliance.

You will develop QA/QC processes, conduct site verifications, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings to clients and stakeholders, with up to 5% travel across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in building energy analysis, verification, commissioning, or related field.
• Knowledge of building systems and energy efficiency measures across commercial/industrial sectors.
• Strong technical expertise in electric and gas energy conservation measures (ECMs).
• Ability to read construction documents and specifications across architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
• Familiarity with energy codes (ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, 55, 189.1).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 5% travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform verification activities for energy efficiency projects, including review of construction documents and field verification.
• Exercise independent judgment in evaluating project compliance with program requirements.
• Develop and continually improve internal verification and QA/QC processes.
• Interpret construction documents to verify energy efficiency measures.
• Conduct site inspections for complex projects and evaluate findings against criteria.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports with findings and energy savings.
• Analyze data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Serve as a technical resource to teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure quality and alignment.
• Interface with client representatives and EM&V teams to resolve issues.
• Oversee a portfolio of projects and prioritize deliverables.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff as needed.
