Job summary

National Fuel is seeking an Energy Consultant for our Williamsville, NY office. The successful candidate will work in the Energy Services Department, serving as the primary point of contact for large commercial and industrial customers, coordinating with internal teams and travel within western New York.

The role focuses on identifying energy solutions, improving energy efficiency, and growing revenue through strategic territory planning.

Qualifications

• Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for large commercial and industrial customers. Coordinate across internal teams and external partners to proactively address customer needs and deliver effective solutions.
• Partner with customers to identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities for new and expanded end-use applications. Leverage technical feasibility studies and prospecting tools to uncover opportunities for increased natural gas utilization, energy efficiency improvements, and integration of alternative and low-carbon energy solutions.
• Develop and execute strategic territory plans to drive incremental sales within the assigned service area. Utilize internal sales, marketing programs, and market insights to successfully progress and close opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders and external influencers to enhance customer value and market reach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will work in the Energy Services Department, which provides sales and marketing services for the gas utility portion of National Fuel’s business. They will be responsible for the following functions within their assigned geographic territory. Travel within western New York is required.

• Customer Engagement & Service: Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for large commercial and industrial customers. Coordinate across internal teams and external partners to proactively address customer needs and deliver effective solutions.
• Strategic Sales & Opportunity Development: Partner with customers to identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities for new and expanded end-use applications. Leverage technical feasibility studies and prospecting tools to uncover opportunities for increased natural gas utilization, energy efficiency improvements, and integration of alternative and low-carbon energy solutions.
• Incremental Revenue Growth: Develop and execute strategic territory plans to drive incremental sales within the assigned service area. Utilize internal sales, marketing programs, and market insights to successfully progress and close opportunities.
• Relationship Management & Influence: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders and external influencers such as developers, engineering firms, and economic development organizations to enhance customer value and market reach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Energy-related concentrations.
• Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Problem solving, organizational and time management skills are necessary to succeed in this position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Technical sales experience, knowledge of energy technologies including HVAC and industrial process, and/or marketing experience are highly desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base salary for this position is $62,500-$75,000.

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of pay that National Fuel believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The specific base pay offered to a successful applicant will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. Other components that may be considered include: individual qualifications, licencures, industry specific experience, education and market demands for specialized skills. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. Exempt positions will also be eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan.
