Job summary
City of Evanston seeks an Energy Benchmarking Specialist to advance the 2016 Energy & Water Benchmarking Ordinance and the 2025 Healthy Buildings Ordinance. Under the Sustainability & Resilience Manager, you will analyze data, engage stakeholders, and develop materials for outreach and compliance.
The role involves managing 550+ buildings’ benchmarking data, preparing reports for City leadership, and conducting trainings for owners and managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Energy/Climate Policy, Environmental Policy, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Data Science, or related field with 18+ quantitative hours.
- Associate’s degree or higher with 3+ years in decarbonization, building science, data analytics, or statistics.
- Experience with data analysis and GIS mapping in public-sector programs.
Responsibilities
- Supports implementation and enforcement of the Energy and Water Benchmarking program.
- Manages and tracks benchmarking data for 550+ buildings in Evanston.
- Reports benchmarking information to the community.
- Generates benchmarking compliance reports for City Manager and City Council.
- Issues warnings and citations for non-compliance.
- Develops trainings and information sessions for property owners and managers.
