Job description

POSITION SPECIFICS

PennTAP seeks an Energy Assessment Quality Analyst, responsible for reviewing, verifying, and improving the quality of energy audit deliverables.

This includes validating site data collection, energy usage analysis, recommendations for energy conservation measures (ECMs), and final reports, ensuring they meet guidelines, project scopes, and internal quality standards.

This position will be filled at the Advanced Professional or the Senior Professional level, based on the successful candidate's qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical reviews of energy audit reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with PennTAP standards.
  • Verify site assessment data, equipment inventories, and energy analysis tools for correctness.
  • Review energy conservation measures (ECMs) for technical feasibility, savings calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure findings are clearly documented with well-supported assumptions and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain quality control checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with technical advisors and leadership to identify and address quality issues early.
  • Perform spot-check validations, including occasional site visits if required.
  • Provide feedback and training to advisors to improve future data collection and analysis practices.
  • Maintain project documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to refine assessment processes and tools.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, motors, pumps, lighting, and building envelope.
  • Familiarity with applicable standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Facility Condition Assessment Specialist - Senior Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

If filled as Facility Condition Assessment Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Science, or related field.
  • Experience in energy audits, building assessments, or commissioning.
  • Experience with M&V (Measurement and Verification)
  • Knowledge of utility incentive programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • CEM (Certified Energy Manager) certification.

Work Arrangement: This position can be based at any of the following Penn State campuses: University Park, Abington, Berks, Brandywine, New Kensington, Schuylkill, Scranton, Lehigh Valley, Greater Allegheny, Beaver, Harrisburg, or Erie (Behrend).

The selected candidate is expected to work on campus for the first six months. After that, a hybrid work arrangement of two remote work days a week may be considered in coordination with the manager.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $89,600.00.
