Job description

Adams Broadwell Joseph & Cardozo is accepting applications for an Attorney to practice Energy and Utility Law. The position is open for attorneys with at least two years of substantive experience practicing before the California Public Utilities Commission.

The Energy and Utility Attorney will perform a range of work to evaluate and develop energy policy and utility rate cases. This includes legal research, factual investigation, administrative record development, brief writing, appearances at administrative proceedings, policy evaluation and development, oral advocacy before regulatory bodies, collaboration with diverse groups of stakeholders and legislative work.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A minimum of two years practicing before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
  • Excellent research and analytic skills.
  • Outstanding and persuasive written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic and creative thinking.
  • Demonstrated work ethic, good judgment and initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the public interest.
  • Ability to work collegially and contribute to a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed, including for case work, educational seminars and hearing appearances.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $175,000 plus annual performance-based bonuses. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience. The firm offers a hybrid work arrangement option, reasonable billable hours requirement, annual discretionary and billable hours bonuses, excellent health insurance benefits and opportunity to participate in a 401(k).
