Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking an Energetics MFG Engineer Level 3 to join our Production Quality team in Magna, UT. The role focuses on solving complex engineering problems, interfacing with design engineering and cross-functional teams, and supporting factory value streams.

You will work in an industrial environment, applying SPC, MRB, RCCA, and quality inspections while ensuring compliance with government regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree plus years of relevant experience as listed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
  • Experience with MRB, FAIR, RCCA, and GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Understand design intent, failure modes, requirements, and specifications of the product and manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret regulations and internal policies; liaise with mission assurance and government agencies.
  • Lead inspections, SPC analyses, and audits with operating entities to enforce requirements.
  • Perform duties as assigned.

Job Title and Location

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Energetics MFG Engineer Level 3 to join our Production Quality team in Magna, UT.

The Energetics MFG Engineer in Production Quality will work in an industrial environment and support solving complex engineering problems. Will effectively interact with design engineering team and provide support across Factory Value Streams, Materials and Process experts, Process engineering, and Tool Design. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

  • Understand the design intent, failure modes, requirements, and specifications of the product as well as the manufacturing processes, process controls, statistics, SPC, and quality inspections.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines and internal policies/procedures to assure compliance and will serve as liaison between Bacchus Mission Assurance and various other organizations including some government agencies.
  • Work directly with operating entities to ensure that inspections, statistical process control analyses, and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements, meet specifications, and improve processing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3
  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards.
  • Experience and knowledge in documenting and processing nonconformances via Material Review Board (MRB) protocol.
  • Experience or knowledge of performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Experience and knowledge in conducting investigations using Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and other investigation techniques.
  • Experience with Dimensional Inspection Techniques and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI/AMSE Y14.5).
  • Mechanical design and tooling experience.
  • Computer Aided Design – ie NX, Solidworks, ProE, CAD, other’s.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with operators, process engineering, suppliers, and design engineering.

  • Experience with solid rocket motor manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated leadership.

Salary Range

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such that it can be tailored to responsibilities and candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
