Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Magna, UT seeks an Energetics Manufacturing Engineer Level 3 to join the Production Quality team. The role supports solving complex engineering problems and interfaces with design engineering, process experts, and tool design.

This position follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, and requires a STEM degree with significant experience and the ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • STEM bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR STEM master’s with 3+ years OR STEM PhD with 1+ year.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards.
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) and nonconformance processing.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Experience with RCCA and other investigation techniques.
  • Experience with Dimensional Inspection Techniques and GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5).
  • Mechanical design and tooling experience; CAD proficiency (NX, SolidWorks, ProE).
  • Strong communication with operators, process engineering, suppliers and design engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Understand design intent, failure modes, requirements, and specifications and relate to manufacturing processes and quality inspections.
  • Provide guidance on regulations and internal policies; liaise with Bacchus Mission Assurance and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with operating entities to ensure inspections, SPC analyses, and audits are conducted and improvements implemented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Energetics MFG Engineer Level 3 to join our Production Quality team in Magna, UT.

The Energetics MFG Engineer in Production Quality will work in an industrial environment and support solving complex engineering problems. Will effectively interact with design engineering team and provide support across Factory Value Streams, Materials and Process experts, Process engineering, and Tool Design.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:
  • Understand the design intent, failure modes, requirements, and specifications of the product as well as the manufacturing processes, process controls, statistics, SPC, and quality inspections.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines and internal policies/procedures to assure compliance and will serve as liaison between Bacchus Mission Assurance and various other organizations including some government agencies.
  • Work directly with operating entities to ensure that inspections, statistical process control analyses, and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements, meet specifications, and improve processing
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards
  • Experience and knowledge in documenting and processing nonconformances via Material Review Board (MRB) protocol
  • Experience or knowledge of performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
  • Experience and knowledge in conducting investigations using Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and other investigation techniques
  • Experience with Dimensional Inspection Techniques and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI/AMSE Y14.5)
  • Mechanical design and tooling experience.
  • Computer Aided Design – ie NX, Solidworks, ProE, CAD, other’s
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with operators, process engineering, suppliers, and design engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with solid rocket motor manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Demonstrated Customer Coordination

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
