Job summary

Brains and Motion Education (BAM!) is seeking a Structured Recess Program Instructor to lead games and activities during school recess in Oakland, CA. The role focuses on creating a safe, energetic, and inclusive environment for elementary and middle school students.

You will deliver engaging activities, encourage positive interactions, and help students stay active and safe. This is a part-time, seasonal position with a November 2026 start and a June 2027 end date.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in school, recreation, coaching, camp, or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to confidently manage and engage groups of students.
• Comfortable working with students across elementary and middle school grade levels.
• Strong communication, patience, and positive behavior-management skills.
• Reliable transportation to the assigned school location.
• Current government-issued photo identification (driver's license or state ID).
• Ability to successfully complete a required criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Foster Fun and Safety: Create and maintain a lively, inclusive playground environment with 20+ students.
• Innovate Play: Coordinate the game of the day and keep recess engaging with diverse activities.
• Promote Positive Play: Model safe, healthy play and conflict resolution through active participation.
• Inspire Engagement: Ensure all students feel welcome and involved in activities.
• Teach with Confidence: Deliver PE lessons across multiple grade levels to support physical development.
