Qualifications

  • Four (4) years relevant experience in information technology or information systems.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in endpoint management, configuration management, systems administration or related technical services.
  • Experience with System Center Configuration Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system administrator-level technical support throughout all phases of endpoint management.
  • Design, implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot endpoint management solutions, operating systems, software, and related technologies.
  • Utilize systems management tools to support endpoint imaging, OS deployment, patch management, software distribution, remote management, reporting, inventory, licensing, and configuration management.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and isolate technical problems and implement solutions to resolve system issues.

Job Description Summary

The Endpoint Configuration Engineer role within Customer Support's Endpoint Configuration team involves designing, implementing, troubleshooting, analyzing, and maintaining workstations, software, operating systems, and printer-related configuration and management systems for enterprise environments. Within Customer Support, the Endpoint Configuration Engineering team works alongside the Service Desk and Desktop Support teams to provide support and advice when initial and on-site troubleshooting require additional expertise.

The role involves a broad general knowledge of information systems, along with an interest in workstation configuration and management. Members of the Endpoint Configuration team also serve as consultants and mentors for the Service Desk and Desktop Support teams.

Job Duties
  • Provide system administrator-level technical support throughout all phases of endpoint management.
  • Design, implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot endpoint management solutions, operating systems, software, and related technologies.
  • Utilize systems management tools to support endpoint imaging, operating system deployment, patch management, software distribution, remote management, reporting, hardware and software inventory, asset management, licensing, settings enforcement, and configuration management.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and isolate technical problems and implement solutions to resolve system issues.
  • Develop, test, implement, and maintain Group Policy configurations to support the University’s computing environment.
  • Monitor and maintain system availability, data integrity, security, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, white papers, decision documents, deployment procedures, and other documentation for technical staff, end users, and managers.
  • Monitor system capacity and performance and participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Provide senior-level technical support as part of the after-hours standby support program.
  • Participate in, facilitate, and lead special projects and provide technical assistance on major or complex initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technicians, system administrators, vendors, and other University departments in the design, implementation, and maintenance of technology systems.
  • Provide training and technical information to employees and support staff regarding assigned computing systems, software, capabilities, and policies.
  • Evaluate vendor-supplied hardware and software solutions to support technology acquisitions and upgrades.
  • Apply vendor and industry practices related to information security, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of University technology standards and policies.

Required Qualifications – Work Experience
  • Four (4) years relevant experience in information technology or information systems. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in endpoint management, configuration management, systems administration or related technical services.
  • Experience with System Center Configuration Manager.
Preferred Qualifications – Work Experience
  • Experience with enterprise client, server, operating systems.
  • Experience managing enterprise devices with modern endpoint management platforms and centralized policy management within directory service environments.
  • Experience with various hardware platforms and core endpoint administration functions, including system configuration, user profile management, data protection, and software/patch lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts or other automation solutions to support endpoint management.
  • Experience with enterprise networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
  • Related work experience in a higher education or academic health care organization.

Compensation Statement: The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

Pay Range: $60,800.00 - $91,200.00
Minimum $60,800.00
Midpoint $76,000.00
Maximum $91,200.00
