Qualifications

• Candidates must hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing prior to start date.
• Experience in college-level teaching of fiction.
• Emerging writers with one book published or under contract; may have a second book under contract.
• Distinction in writing and excellence in teaching.
• Interest in bringing diverse perspectives to teaching, mentoring, and writing.

Responsibilities

• Teach three courses per semester (one graduate MFA class in fiction and two undergraduate courses).
• Advise 2-3 MFA theses annually.
• Serve on the MFA applications committee and host visiting writers for the reading series.
• Continue working toward completion of a new book during the appointment.
