Job summary

Film, Television, and Media, Associate Professor with Tenure, University of Michigan

The Department of Film, Television, and Media at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to teach in the screenwriting field to begin August 25, 2027. This is a university year appointment and will be at the level of Associate Professor, with tenure.

The Department of Film, Television, and Media offers a variety of courses in screenwriting and television writing that build on the University of Michigan’s long and distinguished dramatic writing tradition. With a team of talented and produced screenwriters as lecturers and a variety of unique resources (including a vast library of scripts in the Donald Hall Collection, the James Gindin Visiting Artist Series, and the Peter and Barbara Benedek Artist in Residence Program), the Screenwriting sub major at Michigan provides students with a unique opportunity to learn from accomplished teachers and an array of A-List Hollywood and Independent artists.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach upper-level screenwriting courses and electives, direct the Screenwriting Program, maintain an active record of writing and production, and contribute to the self-governance of the Department and the College.
