Job summary

IU Health is seeking a motivated Unit Secretary who will perform a blend of patient care and clerical tasks in a busy healthcare unit. Under the direction of a Clinical Nurse, you will assist with patient flow, charting, and basic clinical support to the care team.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, possible CPR completion, and knowledge of medical terminology. You will contribute to infection control and ensure a clean, organized environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical duties to support the patient care team.
• Assist patients, families, physicians, and vendors with information and directions.
• Schedule tests and procedures, maintain patient records, and sign patients in/out.
• Handle ordering, receiving and delivering of equipment and supplies for the unit.
• May provide continuous observation, including suicide prevention.
