GENERAL OVERVIEW

Acts under the direction of the Endoscopist and/or Registered Nurse during endoscopic procedures. May assist the RN in technical aspects of circulating duties.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Participates in the maintenance of procedure room supplies and endoscopic equipment. Ensures the integrity, condition, and availability of adequate equipment. (40%)
2. Functions as an integral team member during GI-endoscopic procedures. (30%)
3. Disassembles and reprocesses instrumentation post-procedure according to departmental policy and maintains documentation. (20%)
4. Maintains effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members. (5%)
5. Assists with special procedures under RN and MD supervision, such as YAG lasers, wound care, and line insertions. (5%)
6. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• High school diploma / GED or 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination.
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

Preferred

• Associate's degree in a health-related field.
• Prior GI-endoscopy experience.
