Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy Medical Center in Merced, CA is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support gastroenterologists in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. You will prep the endoscopy suite, handle scopes, and assist during procedures, ensuring sterility and patient comfort.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient assessment, monitoring, inventory management, and adherence to infection control standards in a fast-paced setting, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• BLS/CPR certification required.
• GI Lab Technician training or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Two years experience as a GILab Technician or Certified Surgical Technician.
• Military medical technician training considered.
• Patient transport skills

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN and physician in the continuous assessment, preparation, and monitoring of endoscopy patients, including the application of vital signs equipment and proper positioning.
• Provide direct support during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while collaborating with the nursing team to develop and implement individualized, age-appropriate plans of care.
• Ensure departmental readiness by managing inventory, maintaining supplies, and coordinating efficient room turnover and equipment decontamination.
• Uphold strict patient safety standards by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals, performing hand hygiene, and following universal protocols.
• Maintain operational integrity by verifying equipment functionality before use and ensuring the accurate collection and handling of clinical specimens.
