Job summary

The Endoscopy Center in Savannah, GA is seeking a PRN nursing assistant/CMA to support GI Lab services across adult and geriatric patients. The role involves clerical tasks, instrument reprocessing, and front office support under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities include patient care assistance under RN supervision, preparing equipment, labeling specimens, delivering post-procedure calls, documenting in systems, and maintaining supplies and equipment while upholding infection

Qualifications

• RN, LPN, CMA or equivalent with following policies and procedures.
• Willingness to expand skills including minor procedures and data entry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of direct nursing care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Set up equipment for procedures and ensure supplies are available.
• Assist physician with procedures; collect, prepare and label specimen.
• Explain procedures and expected sensations to patient; provide instructions to ensure cooperation and minimize discomfort; provide emotional and physical support.
• Take and record vital signs; place BP cuff, pulse oximeter sensor, ECG leads, nasal cannula and grounding pad.
• Report patient findings to supervisor or RN responsible for the patient.
• Follow infection control procedures and uphold policies, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Make post-procedure telephone calls.
• Document on all forms/computer as required.
• Maintain expensive and fragile equipment.
• Maintain an adequate supply in procedure rooms, utility rooms, pre-op and recovery area, store room, linen room.
• Assist with admission/discharge procedures as directed.
• Provide back-up support for any area, including scope room and office area.
• Other duties as assigned.
