Job summary

Carsonvalleyhealth in Gardnerville is looking for a part-time Endoscopy Technician to assist gastroenterologists with GI procedures. This role requires knowledge of endoscopic practices, effective communication skills, and an understanding of aseptic techniques.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and relevant experience. Eligible for various benefits for part-time employees including health insurance and 401(k) with match. Work is scheduled 3 days a week, from 0630 to 1700.

Endoscopy Technician - Part Time

Position Summary

Assists gastroenterologists in the performance of general GI procedures, including but not limited to esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy. Assists with anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the procedure or operating room, as necessary.

Position Requirements

Minimum Education

  • Scholastic achievement equal to high school education preferred
  • Completion of a Vocational/Specialized Training preferred

Certificate Requirements

  • BLS (AHA)
  • SGNA Associates Program Certification preferred

Minimum Work Experience

  • Prior relevant work experience preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and effectiveness with interpersonal communication
Position Essential Functions

Knowledge

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of gastro-endoscopic procedures and equipment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of asepsis and consistently maintains aseptic technique
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy related to procedure
  • Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various gastroenterologists for various procedures
  • Able to assemble and trouble‑shoot all equipment as necessary for procedure
  • Ensures all necessary equipment is in the room prior to the start of a case
  • Able to safely operate all electro‑surgical, video, disposable, and re‑processing equipment
  • Updates and re‑writes preference cards as indicated and communicates changes to staff and Manager of Surgical Services

Responsibilities

  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection as evidenced by practice
  • Assists in maintaining procedure/operating room sanitation
  • Prepares for procedures using appropriate physician preference cards
  • Handles all pathology specimens appropriately
  • Accurately communicates pertinent medication and specimen information to the procedure team
  • Responsible for supplies and care of instrumentation before, during, and after endoscopy procedures
  • Monitors skin integrity and communicates to RN and/or physician
  • Demonstrates willingness to identify and assume activities related to departmental developmental needs
  • Demonstrates dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department and hospital
  • Accepts assignment as preceptor for new staff
  • Completes work assignments on time and readily accepts assignments as observed by manager
  • Reports to work on time and is present as scheduled, as observed by manager
  • Assumes other duties as required
