What the Lead Endoscopy Technician will do:
- Assist patients, visitors, and families in a professional and helpful manner. Provide accurate information and directions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment; process work orders and communicate with EVS and Facilities Management; manage inventory of supplies; schedule patient procedures.
- Ensure patient safety through proper identification and assistance.
- Collaborate with the RN to deliver patient care, observe patient conditions, and document progress.
- Support unit activities by transporting patients, specimens, blood, pharmaceuticals, supplies, and medical records; respond to patient requests.
- Ensure proper sterilization and high-level disinfection of instruments, including handling, packaging, storage, and distribution.
- Assist in staff training and orientation with the department Educator; serve as a primary preceptor for new hires.
- Support the RN with patient care activities and assist in procedures and endoscopy cases.
- Check procedure room supplies and equipment setup at the start of each day.
- Operate, adjust, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with specimen collection.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What the Lead Endoscopy Technician will need:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within one week of hire.
- Endoscopy certification.
- At least one year of experience in an endoscopy department.
- Preferred: Previous patient care experience and/or technical education in health-related fields.
- Preferred: Certified Endoscopy Technician or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor.
