- Job Function: Responsible for infection prevention in endoscope preparation, ensuring patient safety. Demonstrates knowledge and skills in reprocessing endoscopes according to standards, guidelines, regulations, and manufacturer instructions.
- Job Function: Assists nurses and physicians during endoscopic procedures, including emergencies. Supports procedures with endoscopes, accessories, and therapeutic equipment. Assists with obtaining biopsy specimens under supervision. N/A for reprocessing-only technicians.
- Job Function: Maintains professional relationships with team members and physicians. Promotes positive public relations, seeks guidance when needed, and maintains accurate records related to reprocessing and QA. Properly labels specimens and records them appropriately. N/A for reprocessing-only technicians.
- Job Function: Observes safety precautions, maintains hygiene standards, and ensures patient safety and comfort. Properly labels and handles specimens, maintains a clean environment, and prevents cross-contamination. N/A for reprocessing-only technicians.
- Job Function: Builds rapport with patients, respects confidentiality, and participates in initiatives to improve patient experience.
- Job Function: Fosters teamwork, accepts assignments, and responds flexibly to the unit's needs, including during emergencies.
- Job Function: Maintains professional skills through ongoing training, attends meetings, and participates in training of new staff, adhering to PRIDE values.
- Job Function: Follows daily schedules for endoscope setup, troubleshooting, and room turnover, including stock management. N/A for reprocessing-only technicians.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; ability to read, write, and speak English.
- 2+ years of experience as an Endoscopy technician or in central sterile reprocessing preferred.
- AHA-BLS certification within 60 days of hire.
- Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
