Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Endoscopy Technician II for the Endoscopy Department at Overlook Medical Center. Required hours vary (10-hour shifts) including weekends and on-call (3 times per month).

Essential Functions:

1. Infection Prevention: Responsible for the reprocessing of endoscopes, including precleaning, leak testing, decontamination, inspection, disinfection, transport, and storage, adhering to industry standards, guidelines, regulations, and manufacturer's instructions.
2. Assistance During Procedures: Assists nurses and physicians during endoscopic procedures, including emergencies, by handling endoscopes, accessories, and therapeutic equipment. Aids in obtaining biopsy specimens and polyps under supervision. Note: Reprocessing-only technicians do not perform this function.
3. Professional Relationships and Record Keeping: Maintains professional relationships with team members and physicians, promotes positive public relations, seeks guidance when needed, and maintains accurate records and logs related to scope reprocessing and QA monitoring. Proper specimen labeling and record keeping are required. Note: Reprocessing-only technicians do not handle specimens.
4. Patient Safety and Environment: Observes isolation and standard precautions, follows hand hygiene protocols, uses patient identifiers, ensures patient safety and comfort, labels and transports specimens properly, and maintains a clean environment.
5. Patient Interaction: Provides courteous and respectful care, responds promptly to patient needs, follows HIPAA guidelines, and respects patient privacy and dignity.
6. Teamwork and Environment: Fosters a positive team environment, accepts assignments, demonstrates flexibility, and assists during emergencies, seeking approval for complex task deviations.
7. Professional Development: Maintains skills through competencies and training, seeks growth opportunities, attends meetings, and participates in training and orientation.
8. Equipment and Room Preparation: Ensures availability of endoscopes, sets up procedure rooms, tests scopes, troubleshoots equipment, and prepares rooms efficiently. Stocking supplies and cleaning are also part of duties. Note: Reprocessing-only technicians do not handle this.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma and/or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to ensure a safe environment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand over 70% of the workday.

Relevant Experience:

• 2+ years in endoscopy technician or central sterile reprocessing preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
