Job summary

Washington Gastroenterology is seeking a Per Diem Endoscopy Technician to join our ambulatory surgery center. The role handles high-level disinfection, maintenance of endoscopes, autoclaving, and logs documentation under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include equipment handling, quality checks, biohazardous materials handling, and assisting physicians as needed. Requires high school diploma and BLS; prior endoscopy experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • This is an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) position that does not require a State license or certification.
  • Previous experience as an Endoscopy Technician or similar type role preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with biohazardous materials and chemicals is preferred.
  • Experience with sterilization of equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and care for procedure equipment per scope reprocessing and high-level disinfection guidelines.
  • Perform quality control checks per manufacturer instructions and document appropriately.
  • Document and maintain all logbooks.
  • Maintain automatic endoscope reprocessor (AER) and replace solutions/filters per policy.
  • Sterilize equipment using an autoclave.
  • Transport soiled equipment to decontamination area.
  • Follow Universal Precautions when cleaning endoscopes and accessories.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager.
  • Assist with patient care under RN supervision.
  • May be trained to assist physicians with procedures.
  • Respond to codes or disasters and assist with patient transport/evacuation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are WAGI

WAGI is seeking a Per Diem Endoscopy Technicianto join our endoscopy ambulatory surgery center. The Endoscopy Technician is an unlicensed individual responsible for high level disinfection and maintenance of endoscopes and accessory equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform proper handling and care of procedure equipment adhering to policies and procedures for scope reprocessing and high-level disinfection per manufacturer’s instructions
  • Preform required quality control checks per manufacturer’s instructions and documents as appropriate
  • Document and maintain all logbooks
  • Maintain automatic endoscope reprocessor (AER), changing solutions and filters per policy
  • Responsible for sterilization of equipment using an autoclave
  • Transports soiled equipment from the procedure room to decontamination area
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions when cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and accessories, as well as when changing disinfection solutions
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to Charge Nurse and/or Nurse Manager
  • Assists with patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • May be trained to assist the Physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Responds to all codes and/or disasters and assists with the transporting or evacuation of patients
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Activities and Requirements
  • Individuals in this position will be working in our ambulatory surgery centers (Endoscopy Centers)
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to reach with arms/hands and lift at waist height frequently and over head occasionally
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel frequently
  • Fine manipulation and grip with hands constantly
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds and seldom lifting 50 pounds

Employees (and their families) who work full time (defined as working 30 or more hours per week) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance. In addition employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401(k) plan which includes a company provided safe harbor contribution of 3% of annual earnings and the potential for a company discretionary profit sharing contribution.

All employees will be eligible to accrue PTO at a rate of .04 hours per payroll hour (1.6 hours for a 40 hour week) which can be used for and exceeds the required mandatory WA State and other local ordinances.

This is an hourlyposition and the anticipated Compensation range is $24.00 - $31.00. The hired applicant is also eligible for annual discretionary bonuses.
