  • Base Pay Range:$16.68 - $26.31 per hour, based on experience.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION






  1. Complete pre-procedure room set up, including but not limited to: endoscope setup, video tower set-up, supply set up, and specimen management supplies.

  2. Assists physicians with specimen management, including proper labeling and processing.

  3. In collaboration with the physician, actively communicates key procedural elements to the RN,including specimen types and location.

  4. Properly handles scopes. Completes immediate bedside cleaning of scopes prior to transport todecontamination. Reports known damage to endoscopes and equipment and follows departmentalprocesses to remove from service and implement repairs.

  5. Maintain endoscopic instruments and accessories in working order. Troubleshoot and recognizemalfunctions with equipment. Anticipate the needs of the endoscopist and endoscopy team.

  6. Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment. Implement and follow infection controlprocedures according to the hospital policy and SGNA guidelines, while following departmentalpolicy and manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and disinfection of equipment.

  7. Facilitate room turnover for efficient delivery of care. Assist with bedside cleaning of thescopes. Clean rooms after completion of procedures and set up room for next procedure.

  8. Maintain appropriate levels of supplies in each endoscopy room and scope room. Assist with managinginventory under the direction of the nursing supervisor/manager.

  9. Perform duties in a cost-effective manner, to avoid waste of hospital resources. Assist withtransferring and positioning of patients as needed.

  10. Participate in quality improvement activities; assist in maintaining compliance with hospitalaccreditation and other internal and external regulatorystandards.

  11. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.





REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS





  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be obtained is required.

  • Flexible EndoscopeReprocessorGI Scope Certification (CFER) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within two (2) years as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS





  • Clinical experience as Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technician, or similar position

  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS





The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
