Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a dedicated Endoscopy Technician 1 to join the team. This full-time Day Shift includes four 10-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with on-call weekends.

The role supports the physician and procedural team, prepares the endoscopy room, and helps ensure patient safety and smooth perioperative operations. A High School diploma and BLS certification are required to start.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required at start (AHA)
• Strong foundational clinical skills for perioperative care and endoscopy procedures
• Healthcare environment experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist physician and procedural team with anatomy and perioperative care
• Support circulating nurse with patient positioning, prep, specimens, and room turnover
• Identify age-related considerations during procedures
• Assist with case pull, cart checks, and ensure supplies are ready before procedures
• Prepare endoscopy room with supplies and instruments per schedule and physician preference

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs and/or provides assistance to the physician and procedural team that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
• Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include: patient positioning, updating physician preference cards, care of endoscopic specimens, and room turnover.
• Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
• Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness; Obtains supplies and equipment and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins.
• Prepares the endoscopy room by opening supplies, instruments, and devices based on scheduled procedure and physician preference card.

• Certification - Basic Life Support upon start from AHA
• Education - High School diploma or equivalent
