Job Description

General Purpose of Job:


The Endoscopy technician provides smooth work flow in the department through effective communication, equipment setup and disinfection of endoscopes to facilitate procedures to occur in a clean, safe, and timely manner.


Essential Duties:


This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.



  • Demonstrates ICARE values when interacting with all persons within the Hospital environment and community.

  • Prepares instruments and rooms for patient procedures.

  • Inventories and replenishes supplies.

  • Ensures equipment is in safe working condition.

  • Assists with moving equipment to other work areas in the Hospital (x-ray, OR).

  • Answers call lights for room turnover.

  • Delivers and obtains items from other departments.

  • Maintains Hospital standards by participating in-services, committees, etc.

  • Assists RN with patients, when appropriate.

  • Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes equipment according to department policy.

  • Participates in quality improvement activities; assists in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission and other internal and external regulatory standards.

  • Assists with orientation of new caregivers.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

  • Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.

  • Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information and maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards.
