Job summary

Gastro Health is seeking a Full-Time Endoscopy Technician to join our team in Fairfax, VA. The role focuses on patient safety, assisting during endoscopy procedures, and maintaining accurate endoscopy records.

You will work a Monday–Friday schedule without weekends or evenings, with paid holidays and time off as part of a comprehensive benefits package. Ideal candidates have a minimum of a high school diploma and BLS, plus 1+ year GI experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of hire.
  • GI/endoscopy experience preferred (1+ year).

Responsibilities

  • Provides a safe environment for patients and prevents potential injury.
  • Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reports to Nurse Manager.
  • Evaluates needs and provides supportive care before, during, and after procedures; maintains records.
  • Maintains endoscopy equipment and supplies; cleans and disinfects devices.
  • Operates and troubleshoots endoscopy and patient monitoring equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and medications; handles and cleans equipment safely.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by management; adheres to routines.
  • Participates in QI, Safety, and Infection Control programs.
  • Communicates pertinent information to coworkers; not responsible for nursing drugs.

Duties you will be responsible for:
  • Provides a safe environment for the patient to prevent potential injury.
  • Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reporting appropriate information to Nurse Manager and documents information.
  • Evaluates and completes assessment of patient needs to provide supportive care before, during, and after procedures and maintains accurate and complete endoscopy records.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies to include: cleans and disinfects endoscopy equipment, operates and troubleshoots endoscopy and patient monitoring equipment, anticipates and assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and medications, handles and cleans equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Maintains flexibility and performs other duties as required.
  • Functions within legal limits of technical practice.
  • Recognizes limitations and reports situations beyond ability or function to proper person.
  • Reports errors of commission/omission.
  • Participates in QI, Materials Management, Safety and Infection Control programs.
  • Communicates pertinent information to co-workers.
  • Not responsible for administration of drugs, IV procedures, or other therapeutic and diagnostic measures falling within the realm of nursing practices.
  • Accepts direction from supervisor or physicians and adheres to established routines.
  • Performs added tasks as assigned by management
Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of 1+ years of previous GI experience preferred
  • Commitment to building strong working relationships with other providers and our healthcare team.
  • The Ideal candidate would be motivated, energetic and willing to learn.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a same day surgery environment.
  • Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Required: BLS, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers obtained within 30 days of hire.
