Summary
Functions as a member GI team by assisting the physician and team with all procedures, decontaminating all equipment, and preparing procedure rooms for procedures. Understands procedures, positioning of patients, and decontamination standards; works well in a fast paced patient centered environment.

Job Duties

• Assists with GI procedures
• Completes vital signs on patients and checks for height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening.
• Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery.
• Problem solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
• Assists physician with endoscopy procedures.
• Assist with the positioning and transport of patients in the GI suite.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to accept and adapt to change and recognizes differences among people.
• Demonstrates competency utilizing various technologies, equipment, and supplies to safely provide patient care.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently as well as collaboratively.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients, utilizing a developmental perspective.
• Excellent computer skills, EMR, word processing and Excel.
• Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and how to perform decontamination procedures.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of decontamination of GI scopes and equipment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year experience in health care setting
• CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – NHA – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• CMA – Certified Medical Assistant – AAMA – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• CMAC – Clinical Medical Assistant Certification – AMCA – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• MAC – Medical Assistant Certified – AMCA – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant – NCTT – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• NRCMA – National Registered Certified Medical Assistant – NAHP – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• RMA – Registered Medical Assistant AMT – State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
