Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking an Endoscopy Lab Scope Reprocessing Technician to support the RN in providing high-quality patient care in an ambulatory setting. You will reprocess endoscopes and operate scope washing equipment under supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and inventory, ensuring patient safety during transport, and aiding in schedule efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• CPR – Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains competencies in the reprocessing of endoscopes and operating the scope washers.
• Identifies actual or potential problems with the integrity of the endoscopes and assists the charge nurse in orchestrating repair.
• Maintains documentation regarding the inventory and repair of endoscopes.
• Uses proper patient identification procedures in transporting of patients.
• Safely transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Expedites on time starts and efficient turnover between procedures.
• Locates, obtains, and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a physician and/or nurse.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Assists the nurse in the preparation of the patient prior to and after the procedure.

The salary range for this position is $21.04 - $30.51 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Endoscopy Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

A clinically competent Endoscopy Lab Scope Reprocessing Technician who works under the supervision of the RN in delivering skilled and effective reprocessing of OES and Video Endoscopes, use of reprocessing machines and all related functions. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a registered nurse. Utilizes initiative, strives to maintain steady level of productivity. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Participates in the continuous quality improvement activities regarding endoscopes.

• Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Assists the nurse in the preparation of the patient prior to and after the procedure.
