Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a NY State RN license, a nursing degree, BLS and ACLS, with GI/endoscopy experience and CGRN recommended after two GI years.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• 2 years Endoscopy experience required.
• Basic EKG interpretation and IV skills required.
• Licensed and currently registered or otherwise duly authorized to practice as a professional nurse in New York State
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS required
• CGRN recommended after 2 years GI experience.

Responsibilities

• Nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation and records review.
• Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Discharge planning consistent with patient status and inter‑departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patient based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff by observing professional behaviors and acting as a mentor.
• Mentor students and volunteers and guide team members in planning patient care activities.
• Coordinate care according to patient needs and unit priorities.
• Communicate with leadership when patient status requires additional intervention.
