Job summary

San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse to join our patient care team. You will collaborate with providers and nursing departments to ensure safe, continuous patient throughput during pre-, intra-, and post-procedures.

Qualified applicants hold NM State Nursing Licensing and BLS, with preferred CGRN and ACLS certifications. This full-time role requires on-site work in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and includes on-call duties as assigned by GI Lab Manager.

Qualifications

• NM State Nursing Licensing is required.
• BLS Certification is required.
• Preferred: CGRN certification.
• ACLS Certification within six months of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with providers and other nursing departments to maintain continuity of patient throughput.
• Utilizes assessment skills to provide patient safety during pre, intra and post procedure.
• Places IV access and completes prerequisite medical interventions as ordered by the provider.
• Assists with the setting up and cleaning of equipment adhering to all infection control practices.
• Handles specimen according to laboratory process (i.e. pathology, histology, cytology, microbiology solutions).
• Documents accurately and efficiently per policy.
• Clearly communicate discharge instructions to patients and caregiver.
• Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
• Responsible for on-call duties as assigned by GI Lab Manager.
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions

Recognize that potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or hazardous materials, x-ray, noxious/irritating fumes, long hours, and unforeseen conditions that might generate stress may be encountered. Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance. Must be able to walk, stand, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently. Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently. Recognize that physical demands such as extensive walking, standing, lifting, positioning, pushing, and or transferring of patients may be required.
