Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans seeks a Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) to ensure endoscopic equipment is properly reprocessed and sterilized, contributing to accurate diagnoses and safe patient care. As an Endoscopy Reprocessing Technician, you will follow strict infection control protocols and support physicians during procedures, emphasizing safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent, or 2 years of work experience.
  • Endo/GI & Reprocessing experience preferred.
  • Sterile Processing program diploma preferred.
  • 1 year of healthcare, supply management, or procedure room experience preferred.
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) preferred.
  • CBSPD certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect endoscopes and accessories.
  • Monitor endoscopes and instruments for optimal performance.
  • Identify and label instruments for processing and high-level disinfection expiry.
  • Operate and maintain automated endoscope reprocessing equipment per manufacturers' guidelines.
  • Follow infection control policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain patient data and quality control logs.
  • Oversee care, handling, and maintenance of endoscopes; report broken equipment.
  • Clean and dry endoscopes; store instruments properly.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.

Your Everyday
  • Provides assistance to physicians during procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect a variety of endoscopes and endoscopic accessories.
  • Monitor endoscopes and instruments to ensure they are performing at optimal levels.
  • Identify and label instruments for processing and high-level disinfection expiration.
  • Operate and maintain automated endoscope reprocessing equipment utilizing proper operating procedures and methods in accordance with manufacturers recommended parameters.
  • Follow policy procedures protocols and infection control guidelines.
  • Maintain patient data and quality control logs.
  • Oversee the care, handling, and maintenance of endoscopes. Inspects endoscopes and reports broken equipment to supervisor.
  • Clean the endoscopes properly, dry, and store instruments and supplies using proper stocking and storage techniques.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
The Must-Haves
Minimum
  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience
Preferred
  • Endo/GI & Reprocessing experience highly preferred
  • Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program
  • 1 year of work experience in healthcare, supply management, or operating department or procedure room experience
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)
  • CBSPD
