Job summary

NYU Langone Health in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Tisch Endoscopy Unit on the Evening Shift (35 hours per week). The successful candidate will support physicians and nurses in delivering patient care and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with MA program completion or national certification (AAMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA). Preferred: MA experience, EKG or spirometry experience, and second language.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists patients and communicates with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
• Answers telephone in treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments.
• Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use.
• Assists physicians with procedures (e.g. GI procedures, all medical exams).
• Assists patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
• Assures completion of patient charges as per policy.
• Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned and prepared for the next patient.
• Stocks exam rooms with supplies and linens; notifies Office Manager when supplies are low.
• Ensures chart is available with relevant lab work and test reports for the physician.
• Assists in maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and escorting patients and specimens.
• Obtains vital signs, weights, EKGs, and basic tests; assists with phlebotomy as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
