Position Summary

The Endoscopic Technician is a member of the nursing team who contributes to the comfort and well‑being of patients by performing specific tasks and working under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Manually clean and disinfect endoscopes used in all GI Lab and Pulmonary procedures
  • Maintain disinfectant solutions and assist with monitoring the quality and effectiveness of reprocessing procedures
  • Assist physicians during procedures (under the direction of the RN) with biopsies, therapeutic techniques, polypectomies, PEGs, ERCPs, specimen collection, EUS, bleeding therapeutics (clips, banders), etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to function as an assistant in GI procedures
  • Provide timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the decontamination room of all QI logs
  • Promote a safe “error‑free” working environment by consistently performing thorough infection prevention measures
  • Assume an active role in orienting, coaching, and mentoring new staff
  • Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills
  • Manage multiple priorities and possess strong time‑management skills

Physical Requirements

This role can be physically demanding, requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods. Frequently assists lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must work in a stressful environment, independently, make sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self‑motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.
