Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Physician Assistant specializing in Endocrinology to diagnose, treat, and manage endocrine disorders. You will work on-site in our Endocrinology Clinic, report to the Director of Specialty Care, and collaborate with supervising physicians to provide high-quality patient care.

The role requires a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies, an active Texas license, NCCPA certification, DEA registration, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a Physician Assistant Program.
• Must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant from the Texas Medical Board.
• Board certified with NCCPA or related.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Adult Medicine, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Strong experience with EMR/EMR systems.
• Annual continuing medical education as required by board specialty.
• Must be registered and have current DEA.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients on an outpatient basis; prescribes medications and treatments in coordination with supervising physician.
• Maintains and documents patient encounters in the electronic health record within 24 hours.
• Ensures continuity of care and timely medical services per clinic schedule.
• Refers patients for appropriate specialty care and ancillary studies as needed.
• Reviews labs and imaging and makes medical management decisions with supervising physician as needed.
• Maintains productivity standards for the specialty as established by the Center.
• Provides excellent internal/external customer service.
• Follows clinic policies and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
• Trains and mentors medical students and clinical staff as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
