Job description

Indiana hospital seeks a BE/BC Endocrinologist to join one other endocrinologist and four advanced practice nurses in a well-established, dynamic, and rapidly expanding diverse endocrinology practice in northeastern Indiana. The practice is a division of a well-respected major referral center serving northeast and north central Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwest Ohio.

Position Details
  1. Outpatient, employed position, full-time, 36 contact hours weekly, with a flexible work week of 4 or 5 days.
  2. Expected patient volume is around 20 patients daily.
  3. Part-time employment options may also be considered.
  4. Scope of practice includes the full spectrum of endocrinological diseases such as diabetes I and II, gestational diabetes, thyroid diseases including cancer, pituitary and adrenal disorders, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, diabetes insipidus, calcium disorders, osteoporosis, hypogonadism, neuroendocrine tumors, and endocrine hypertension.
  5. Services provided encompass insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring systems, radioiodine therapy, thyroid ultrasound and FNA, DEXA scan interpretation, medication administration for endocrine disorders, and stimulation and suppression testing. The practice has an excellent diabetes educator.
  6. After-hours calls are primarily managed by the nurse practitioner, resulting in minimal call volume. Coverage may rotate 1:2 with the current endocrinologist, or each endocrinologist may cover their own patients.
  7. The clinic is attached to the hospital, with inpatient coverage provided by three of the four advanced practice nurses; endocrinologists provide backup via phone. The new endocrinologist may also choose to see hospital patients if interested.
  8. The four advanced practice nurses have independent patient panels and practice under endocrinologist supervision, all being highly competent and experienced providers.
Compensation and Benefits
  1. Competitive salary guaranteed in the first year, with subsequent compensation based on productivity (wRVUs). A productivity bonus may also be earned over the guaranteed salary.
  2. CME allowance, commencement bonus, quality bonus, medical education debt repayment, and relocation assistance.
  3. Benefits include up to 6 weeks of vacation annually, full medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance (short and long-term), long-term care insurance, a 401K retirement plan with a generous employer match, and flexible spending accounts.
The Hospital
  1. A 396-bed tertiary care facility with extensive specialized services, including a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, accredited cancer program, and the region's only cardiac transplant program.
  2. Provides extensive subspecialty support to a 1.2 million patient catchment area in northeast Indiana.
The Area
  1. The city and surrounding community offer an ideal environment for families, with amenities for all seasons, urban and suburban lifestyles, excellent schools, and easy access to major cities such as Chicago, Indianapolis, Toledo, Detroit, and Cincinnati.
  2. Fort Wayne boasts fine dining, Broadway theater, minor league sports, a symphony orchestra, art museums, several universities, and IU Med School, among other attractions.
