Primary care physicians and case managers face challenges in timely referrals for diabetic patients to endocrinologists. Currently, there are only 2.5 endocrinologists in the market area, below the recommended level of 5.4 for the population size. With over 20 primary care physicians and several case managers, there is significant potential for a well-trained specialist to develop a robust practice.
