Job summary

Henry Ford Health in St. Clair Shores is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care with front-desk and clinical duties. The role includes greeting patients, taking histories, vital signs, and assisting providers during exams and procedures.

Requirements include a Medical Assistant program (160 hour externship), Basic computer skills, and current BLS certification. Familiarity with EPIC EMR is preferred; on-site hours are Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant program with clinical externship (160 hours).
• Current BLS certification at hire or by orientation end.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to room and prepare for examination or procedure.
• Obtain and record vital signs in the EHR.
• Collect patient history and use critical thinking in assessments.
• Prepare for and assist with examinations and treatments following protocols.
• Administer medications and immunizations as ordered; document administration.
• Document care in the EHR during patient visits.
• Recognize emergencies and respond promptly.
• Monitor patient requests via telephone, In Basket, and MyChart; document responses.
• Enter orders in the EHR for provider sign-off.
• Discharge patient with after-visit instructions.
• Prepare medication refills and routing for provider review.
