Job summary

SeAH Steel USA in Houston is seeking an End Welder to operate and set up equipment for welding of slitted metal. You will ensure safe, compliant operation during your shift while contributing to quality and efficiency on the line.

The role requires at least 1 year of welding experience, familiarity with OCTG pipe processes, and the ability to read specs and follow procedures. A flexible schedule including overtime is common in this manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year experience in welding.
• Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe industry is preferable.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and handheld devices.
• Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and welding operation.
• Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require over-time.
• Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate mill entry, Flatteners, End Welder Machine and Accumulator.
• Ensure cross weld quality.
• Monitor coil edge condition.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces with portable grinders, files, or scrapers.
• Monitor operation by gauges and indicators to ensure proper function.
• Review work orders and specs to determine required materials.
• Handle and move materials safely using hands and arms.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials for defects.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Monitor information to detect problems.
• Other duties as assigned.

The End Welder shall operate in the functions of welding metal slitted material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the setup and operation of mill entry, Flatteners, End Welder Machine and Accumulator.
• Responsible for cross weld quality
• Responsible for coil edge condition.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
• Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.
• Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Responsible for performing routine PM of equipment.
• Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regulary.

• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
• The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
