The Role

We are seeking a strategic, technically fluent Director of Business Development to lead AMD's efforts across key AI end customer vertical markets (e.g., industrial, automotive, healthcare, financial services, energy, etc.). This global role will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and executing business opportunities that drive adoption of AMD Instinct accelerators and AI platforms in customer-centric applications.

You will serve as a cross-functional leader and strategic evangelist, working with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to accelerate AMD's position in AI-powered solutions. This is a high-impact role for a self-motivated business leader with a deep understanding of AI technology, GPU acceleration, and market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Strategic Growth: Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for key AI end-customer verticals, focusing on revenue generation, design wins, and AMD Instinct adoption.
  • Customer Engagement: Identify and engage with strategic customers to understand their AI needs and propose solutions leveraging AMD’s technology portfolio.
  • Solution Mapping: Translate customer challenges into AMD-based technical solutions, working with internal engineering, software, and product teams.
  • Market Development: Build a robust pipeline of opportunities across targeted verticals by analyzing market trends, use cases, and competitive dynamics.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with sales, product management, software engineering, and marketing to build tailored solutions and scalable go-to-market motions.
  • Technical Evangelism: Serve as a credible and recognized thought leader in AI and GPU acceleration within your vertical focus areas—internally and externally.
  • Partner Ecosystem Enablement: Work closely with OEM/ODM partners, ISVs, and integrators to deliver and promote AI solutions that solve real-world problems.
  • Product Feedback: Provide customer and market feedback to shape product strategy, influence roadmaps, and ensure alignment with real-world requirements.
  • Pipeline & Operational Execution: Own the full business development lifecycle, from opportunity identification through execution, metrics tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Representation: Represent AMD at key industry events, forums, and customer meetings, articulating our AI vision and product value proposition.


Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years in business development, product management, or technical sales in high-tech industries (AI, semiconductors, HPC, industrial, or related fields)
  • Proven track record of developing and closing strategic technology engagements
  • Deep understanding of vertical-specific AI use cases (e.g., predictive maintenance, computer vision, autonomous systems)
  • Hands-on familiarity with GPU programming models, ML frameworks, or accelerator ecosystems a strong plus
  • Existing network within target vertical markets and partner ecosystems
  • Experience working with or for hardware vendors, system integrators, or cloud providers is advantageous


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field required
  • Master’s or PhD in a technical or business field preferred
