Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking an assembler/welder to support the fabrication and assembly of enclosure frames, panels and subassemblies. This role requires reading blueprints, performing MIG welding, and basic mechanical assembly in a manufacturing setting.

Ideal candidates will have 1+ years of welding/fabrication experience and be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions. Gulf Island notes visa sponsorship is not available, and pre-employment screening is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in welding, fabrication or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
• 1+ years experience in structural fitting
• Must be able to read blueprints
• Basic proficiency with MIG welding
• Must be able to read and use a tape measure
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions with exposure to fumes (with proper respiratory protection)
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Welding certifications (AWS/ASME) or technical school coursework

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on enclosure components by following drawings and trained procedures
• Perform basic mechanical assembly, including fitting panels, installing hardware and prepping components for welding or final assembly
• Read and follow blueprints, drawings and work instructions to determine weld and assembly requirements
• Complete tasks for roofs, doors and sub-assemblies (RDS) to support smooth production flow and ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements
• Support material movement and positioning using overhead cranes or rigging (training provided)
• Conduct visual weld checks, report defects and assist with rework
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all PPE requirements, including respirators when required for certain materials
• Setup and teardown welding / assembly workstations
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and maintain workflow
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
