Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to provide care across neonate to geriatric patients under the supervision of a Medical Transport Supervisor. The EMT will follow Georgia EMT Scope of Practice guidelines and perform clinical duties accordingly.

The role requires state EMT-I or AEMT licensure, a high school diploma or GED, and adherence to defensive driving and BLS requirements. Field work spans multiple age groups and locations within NGHS facilities.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Is under the direct supervision of Medical Transport Supervisor. EMT should have knowledge of treatment and stabilization of all patients as well as all definitive techniques within the limitations of their certification as governed by the Georgia Department of Public health. This position will care for patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with the State of Georgia EMT Scope of Practice guidelines and procedures.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: State license as EMT-I, or AEMT

• Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of emergency medicine relative to pre-hospital and inter facility treatment of all sick and injured patients and ensures that care is consistently delivered to every patient.

• Ensures that emergency vehicle is clean and decontaminated at all times and that vehicle is fueled and fully stocked.

• Maintains all equipment on ambulance and is accounted for at all times and that any equipment left at the hospital is eventually retrieved.

• Pursues continuing education offered by NGHS and others for personal accountability for medic licensure.

• Uses sound judgment in resolving problems by following the chain of command and that discretion is observed in regards to the public.

• Properly dresses in appropriate uniform attire according to NGHS and Medical Transport policies and procedures.

• Uses mobile communication according to departmental rules and procedures.

• Patient care documentation is done accurately and expeditiously within the standards of the State of Georgia and departmental requirements.
