Job summary

City of Española is seeking a dedicated outreach and case management specialist to support individuals in treatment and recovery, working with social services, law enforcement, and the fire department.

The role focuses on expanding warm hand-off services for co-occurring SUD, OUD, and mental health conditions, including outreach and case management to clients and stakeholders, while maintaining a secure environment through de-escalation and mental health first aid.

Qualifications

• Education and experience: High School Diploma or GED; 3 years’ case management experience, preferably in fire service or law enforcement.
• Must obtain EMT certification within one year.
• Experience with case management, field work such as Post Overdose Response and crisis management is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable by the City of Española’s auto/vehicle insurance.
• Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Must pass criminal background check.

This position is funded by opioid settlement funds and is contingent upon continued receipt of funds.

Submit City of Española employment application and proof of required certifications to the HR Department.

SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Fire Chief or designee, this position is responsible may work with social services staff, law enforcement, fire department, while providing support to both people in treatment and recovery by expansion of warm hand-off services to include co-occurring SUD, OUD and or mental health conditions. May direct or assist with outreach and case management to any and all clients who have opioid substance use issues and other stakeholders to maintain a secure environment and address any security concerns that arise through de-escalation and mental health first-aid support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and experience: High School Diploma or the equivalent (GED); AND three (3) years’ experience in case management, preferably within fire service or law enforcement. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
• Must have or be able to obtain within one year EMT certification.
• Experience with case management, field work such as Post Overdose Response (paramedicine, mobile medicine) crisis management, preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable by the City of Española’s auto/vehicle insurance.
• Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Must pass criminal background check.
