Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an EMT to provide Basic Life Support and patient care in accordance with West Virginia EMT protocols. You will assess patients, formulate treatment plans, and perform medication administration during 911 responses and transports.

The role requires WV EMT certification with renewals every two years, along with BLS, EPC, EVOS, and blood endorsement credentials. You will operate within agency credentialing and transport requirements.

Qualifications

• GED is required.
• National Registry EMT registration must be renewed every 2 years.
• West Virginia EMT certification required within 1 month of hire and renewed every 2 years.
• EVOS certification required within 1 month of hire, renewed every 4 years.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required within 1 month of hire, renewed every 2 years.
• EPC certification required within 3 months of hire, renewed every 4 years.
• WV EMS Blood Endorsement required within 1 year of hire, renewed annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) patient care per West Virginia EMT scope and protocols.

Job description

• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) patient care consistent with the West Virginia EMT Scope of practice and applicable EMS protocols


• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and formulate appropriate treatment plans


• Perform advanced airway management, pharmacological interventions, defibrillation, and other BLS procedures authorized by protocol and credentialing


• Initiate and maintain appropriate medical treatments, including medication administration and monitoring


• Provide medical care during 911 emergency responses, interfacility transports, and specialty transports consistent with agency credentialing and transport requirements


• Obtain medical direction when required by protocol or clinical judgment


• Continuously monitor patient condition and adjust care as appropriate


• Communicate patient condition and treatment information to receiving facilities

Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)


• National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician registration to be renewed every two (2) years


• West Virginia Office of EMS EMT Certification to be obtained within one (1) month of hire and renewed every two years


• Valid Driver’s License with driving record acceptable by motor vehicle insurance carrier


• Minimum of two (2) years of driving experience


• Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) certification or obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every four (4) years


• Valid BLS for Healthcare Providers (or equivalent) certification or obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every two (2) years


• Emergency pediatric Care (EPC) certification or obtain within three (3) months of hire and renewed every four (4) years


• West Virginia Office of EMS Blood Endorsement (Assistant) or obtain within one (1) year of hire and renewed annually


• Successful completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) or obtain within (1) month of hire


• Unencumbered ability to practice Emergency Medical Services within the State of WV
