Job summary

Wabash General Hospital is seeking an EMT-Paramedic to maintain ambulance readiness and equipment, while ensuring clean, compliant units and facilities. The role includes duties as an Emergency Department Technician and ongoing recertification CEUs.

Requirements include IL EMT-Paramedic licensure, National Registry, ACLS/PALS/ITLS, CPR, and a valid IL driver’s license; 1 year EMT experience preferred. A $6,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the EMT-Paramedic course.
  • Current IL EMT-Paramedic licensure and National Registry.
  • ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS/ITLS certifications.
  • Professional CPR certification.
  • One year EMT experience preferred.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and MVR clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of ambulances, equipment, medications, and supplies.
  • Keep units, equipment, and headquarters clean and in order.
  • Follow departmental dress code.
  • Act as Emergency Department Technician as assigned.
  • Obtain CEUs for recertification as EMT-Paramedic.

Description $6,000.00 Sign-On Bonus - The EMT-Paramedic is responsible for the working knowledge of the ambulances, emergency equipment, medications, and supplies that are used on each ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic will maintain all units and ensure that equipment is clean and in working order. He/she will also maintain ambulance service headquarters in a clean and orderly manner. The EMT-Paramedic will abide by written dress code as described in departmental policy. Out of department responsibilities include acting as Emergency Department Technician responsible for performing assigned duties within the scope of their approved job description. The EMT-Paramedic must obtain continuing education units necessary for recertification as an EMT-Paramedic, as established by the Illinois Department of Public Health and satisfactory completion of skills checklist developed by resource hospital. Must follow policies and procedures for patient care as established by Wabash General Hospital, Wabash General Ambulance Service, and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Schedule

  • May be required to work any day of the week including holidays and weekends.
  • Employees are required to work 2-3 24-hour shifts per week (21-day rotation).

Education, License, Or Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Course as outlined by the Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic licensure in the State of Illinois and National Registry
  • ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS/ITLS Certification.
  • Professional CPR Certification.
  • One year of EMT experience preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with proper classification.
  • Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment motor vehicle record (MVR) review
