Responsibilities

  • Complete department education requirements with documentation and feedback.
  • Apply cardiac monitor to patients accurately.
  • Recognize emergencies and initiate appropriate responses.
  • Perform procedures per EMS protocols and department guidelines.
  • Participate in meetings and training to support department development.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical performance utilizes a progressive effort to provide patient care.
  • Completes requirements for department‑specific education as evidenced by successful completion of required classes, and by documentation, observation, and feedback.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply cardiac monitor to a patient correctly.
  • Recognizes an emergency and initiates appropriate response, as evidenced by documentation and observation.
  • Performs procedures and treatments according to EMS standards and department protocols as evidenced by documentation and observation.
  • Positively supports and contributes to departmental development as evidenced by participating in meetings and training.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire or transfer.
  • Driver's License from the state.
  • EMT Certificate from the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners within 90 days of hire.
  • Ambulance Driver Certification from the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of Emergency Medical Technician experience.
  • Advanced EMT Certificate from the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.
Scheduling Requirements

Requires ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Physical Requirements

Very heavy work – exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67‑100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34‑66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

Location: Deadwood, SD, USA

Starting Pay Rate Range: $18.38 - $21.13 (determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant.)
